The traverse provides views of Tucson Estates to the SW and open desert to the NE. The hike is best done counter-clockwise as it goes up the sections with steep loose rock on the Explorer Trail and the access to Bobcat Ridge. The turnoff to the social trail leading to the ridge is unmarked (about 1.6 mi from start). If you reach the saddle via the Explorer Trail, you have gone too far.
